Sonic Colors Ultimate remaster is coming out in September

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of Sonic, Sega has announced Sonic Colors Ultimate, a remaster of one of the better 3D Sonic games. The game will be coming to PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC later this year on 7th September.


Those deciding to pick up the Digital Deluxe editiion will get to play a bit early, get exclusic music, gold & silver wearables, player icons and a Sonic Movie Boost.

Sonic Colors Ultimate will be accompanied by a new two-part animation called Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps. It will debut this summer with Sonic having to journey to Sweet Mountain with the Jade Ghost Wisps in order to save all the trapped Wisps.

These are far from the only announcements, with plenty of tie-ins with other games and events:

  • Sonic Symphony – A free virtual performance of Sonic music on 23rd June
  • Sonic at the Olympics – A free Sonic costume that your avatar can wear in the official Tokyo 2020 video game, coming on 22nd June
  • Two Point Hospital Sonic Pack – A selection of costumes for your doctors including Sonic, Knuckles, Tails and Amy, and in-game Sonic items to place around. Available on 30th July
  • Lost Judgment – Play Sonic The Fighters in the in-game arcades. Available 24th September.
  • Sonic Origins – a new compilation of Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD for modern platforms, coming in 2022
  • A new Sonic Game – the show concluded with a teaser for a new Sonic game from Team Sonic, coming in 2022…
