Final Fantasy VII Remake patch 1.02 is out, you will need it to transfer your saved games to the PS5 version

If you are going to upgrade from Final Fantasy VII Remake to Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for PlayStation 5 you are going to need to download the latest patch, version 1.02, for the PlayStation 4 game which enables the Upload Save Data menu option. From here you can transfer your save game up to the cloud where Square Enix will do some magical gubbins which will enable it work with Intergrade and you can then download it when Intergrade launches next week and continue your game.

We’ve recently been provided with a freshly baked batch of footage by Square Enix, showing off a little bit more of this new content, from Yuffie’s character design and some hints at the side-story she goes on before hooking up with the main crew from Final Fantasy VII, to her companion character Sonon, the Fort Condor mini-game and more.

It’s honestly looking like a pretty sizeable new episode in the reimagined Final Fantasy VII Remake story. There’s plenty of references back to the original game and its spin-offs, like Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core and Before Crisis, but Episode Intermission is telling a new side story.

Looking back on the original release for PS4 last year, Tuffcub wrote in our Final Fantasy VII Remake review:

How do you remake one of the most beloved video games ever made? Why would you even risk it? It would be like remaking Jaws, Casablanca, or the original Star Wars film. Final Fantasy VII was a sprawling saga spanning eighty hours of memorable characters, lengthy battles, and tearful heartbreak. There is no way Square Enix could do it justice… and yet they have.

An utter joy to play from start to finish, packed with memorable scenes, moustache-twirling baddies, and epic battles. The first part of Final Fantasy VII Remake isn’t just polished, it’s opulent.
