Warhammer Vermintide 2 update adds Grudge Marks

Warhammer Vermintide 2 Update

A future Warhammer Vermintide 2 update will be adding what developer Fatshark is calling “Grudge Marks”.

This is a follow up to the Chaos Wastes expansion that released earlier this year, presenting slayers with new challenges and rewards. It will be available for free across all platforms from October 28th and will arrive alongside the game’s Geheimnisnacht event.

The aim is to make Chaos Wastes more rewarding, dialling up the difficulty regardless of your character’s power level. This new Vermintide 2 update will attach Grudge Marks to certain enemies, imbuing them with volatile buffs to make them an even bigger threat.

The Grudge Marked monster receives a random set of attributes modifying their offensive and defensive behavior. Any hero wishing to survive should pay special attention to these attributes. There are 10 attributes total coming in this update, and we will reveal more about them leading up to the release.

The number of attributes applied depends on difficulty. A Grudge Marked monster can have a minimum amount of 0 attributes and a maximum of 3.

Within Chaos Wastes you will face a Grudge Marked monster at the end of an expedition in the arenas, and they also have a chance to spawn from Cursed Shrines.

In our Warhammer Vermintide 2 review, we scored the rat-smashing sequel a solid 8/10:

“Warhammer Vermintide 2’s co-op battling is nice step forward over the original. It’s gruelling at times, and that can sap the fun out when you’re failing missions and not making progress, with the weighty combat, the additional sub-classes and a long and deep progression of difficulty and loot, there’s plenty here for those that want to be in for the long haul.”

Warhammer Vermintide 2

Fatshark have yet to hint at a Vermintide 3. Although the current game is a few years old, the developer continue to pump it with new content.

Instead, the Swedish studio are no doubt solely focusing on Warhammer 40,000: Darktide as their next big project. Delayed until 2022, the grimdark co-op shooter will mirror its Warhammer Fantasy counterpart, albeit swapping blades for bolters when it arrives on PC and Xbox consoles.
