Microsoft has announced the Games with Gold for November, with four free games being handed out to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold subscribers. It’s the same story as usual, but with indie hits like Moving Out and Kingdom Two Crowns, this is one of the better months of Games with Gold that I can remember.
What are November’s Xbox Games with Gold?
The four games are the usual mixture of two Xbox One titles and two Xbox or Xbox 360 games that can be played via backward compatibility. Everything is obviously playable on Xbox Series X|S as well. The four games will be made available at different points through the month, as follows:
- Moving Out – 1st to 30th November
- Kingdom Two Crowns – 16th November to 15th December
- Rocket Knight (Xbox 360 BC) – 1st to 15th November
- Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes (Xbox 360 BC) – 16th to 30th November
Let’s run through the four games so you know what you’re getting.
If you’re a fan of co-op shenanigans like Overcooked, then Moving Out will be right up your alley, just with home removals as the theme instead of culinary chaos. In our Moving Out review Ade said:
“Moving Out performs a seemingly impossible balancing act. It’s both a challenging couch co-op physics puzzler, and yet it’s completely accessible to everyone sat on that couch, regardless of their video game experience. Moving Out is fun, it’s frivolous, it’s joyful and it will have you laughing from beginning to end.”
Kingdom Two Crowns is a complete change of pace as you build up a settlement in two dimensions and try to survive the monsters that come out at night. The third game in the series, Tom said it “feels more like an extensive update than a new entry to the series, but the base game is still so immensely enjoyable that it doesn’t really matter. This is the perfect starting point for new players, and those who are returning might still be surprised by some of the secrets to be found.”
I’ll be honest and say that I’ve never heard of Rocket Knight, though the Microsoft Store tells me it’s a HD remake of a classic 2D side-scrolling rocket action series, but who hasn’t heard of LEGO Batman at this point? We have to go all the way back to 2012 for our review of this game, but you know exactly what you’re getting with this.
In our LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes review, Jim said, “LEGO Batman 2 may have suffered from the series’ collective fatigue in a few places, yet still stands as one of the best, most enriching puzzle platformers to grace home consoles.”
Can I still download the October 2021Â Games with Gold Games?
Yes! You’ve still got a couple days to grab most of last month’s games. Due to Microsoft’s staggered windows Castlevania: Harmony of Despair has already exited the service, but the the other three games are still available:
- Aaero – until 31st October
- Hover – until 15th November
- Resident Evil Code: Veronica X (Xbox 360 BC) – until 31st October
