Koei Tecmo will release a demo for Dynasty Warriors 9 Empire ahead of the game’s launch. This was confirmed in a recent interview with Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu.

The upcoming demo will include a generous portion of Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, allowing players to sample two key modes. This preview of the sequel is console-only with no word on whether it will be available outside of Japan. That said, those who Japanese store accounts should be able to download it without any issues.

According to DW source, BlackKite, the main focus of the demo will be a siege battle tutorial. The way players expand and hold territory has been redone for Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, the tutorial including both attacking and defending scenarios.

Another big mode fans are eager to try out is CAW – or create a warrior mode. Being able to design your own character has always been the main draw of the Empires games, players watching as their custom warrior rises through the ranks and interacts with famous generals.

The creation tools will be a massive step up for the franchise, based on those used in Team Ninja’s Nioh 2. Characters created in the Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires demo can then be exported into the full game.

The western release date for DW9E is scheduled for February 15, 2022, almost exactly 4 years after the launch of Dynasty Warriors 9. It’s fair to say that Koei Tecmo took a gamble with the newest mainline entry in their fan favourite franchise. However, the game’s open world was barren and didn’t lend itself to some of the era’s epic battles.

Hopefully Omega Force has cracked the formula with Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires when it finally arrives on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC next year. Samurai Warriors 5 marked a welcome return to form so hopefully its DW counterpart can step things up.
