Bandai Namco are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the anime adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure by releasing JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R. The game is based on the All Star Battle fighting system that was released in 2013 but ” reinvigorates the experience with adjustments to the fighting tempo and the addition of hit stops and jump dashes.”
The game’s visuals are based on Hirohiko Araki’s manga and there are 50 playable characters from all arcs allowing players to “experience popular battles from each story, and see characters from different universes interact for the first time.”
There will be six game modes: All Star Battle Mode, Arcade Mode, Online Mode, Versus Mode, Practice Mode, and Gallery Mode. All Star Battle Mode includes fights from the original 2013 game plus a buncjh of new configurations giving players “100 battles with various settings and conditions.”
You can probably guess from the amount of quotes above I have no idea what I’m talking about but Bandai Namco do mention that the characters have “unforgettable catch phrases,” and that’s very evident in the trailer so I will now try and decode what they mean.
- “Star Platinum” : Seems pretty obvious, the character has just performed a perfect move.
- “I want to learn how to use the spin” : This seems to be said by a character on a horse. Maybe his saddle is wet and he needs to put it in the tumble dryer?
- “By Madonna” : Wasn’t expecting the Queen of Pop to get a call out but she does. Clearly the character is a big fan.
- “Reverb” : Again, not expecting someone to call out an effect I use in Cubase every day but they have. Maybe they needed their voice to sound like they were in a church.
- “Here are my bubbles” : There are no bubbles on screen when this is said and this is a game from the Far East so perhaps she means her bouncy lady bits?
- “Food for the piggies” : I think this is a threat? Like, I’m going to kill you and feed you to pigs?
- “Chariot” : I have no idea. Literally no idea, why would you just shout that.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle R will launch autumn on 2022 PlayStation, Switch, Xbox & PC.
