Supermassive Games, the developers of Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology, are working on yet another horror game.
Although we had already caught wind of The Quarry via an earlier trademark filing, we now have game footage as well as a date for its big reveal.
Published by 2K Games, a reveal trailer for upcoming horror title will be unmasked tomorrow, March 17, 2022 at 4PM UK time (that’s 9AM PT/12PM ET).
We're extremely, beyond words, proud to partner with your incredibly talented development team on this project ❤️??

The teaser doesn’t give away too much yet gives us a quick taste of what The Quarry has to offer. There are plenty of slasher movie motifs here, from the bloody logo to the mention of camp counsellors in peril – we can’t be the only ones getting a smack of Friday the 13th here.
Supermassive’s recent work on The Dark Pictures Anthology has produced a string of mature, serious games that probe different corners of the horror genre. The UK developer has yet to explore the schlocky side of horror and this is where we hope The Quarry may take us.
In terms of gameplay, it’s unclear whether The Quarry will sport the same mix of exploration and choice-driven dialogue seen in the studio’s past work. There’s a chance it could go down the survival horror route, or maybe even tap into the growing number of asymmetric multiplayer games such as Dead By Daylight. It’s not yet been confirmed which platforms The Quarry will appear on.
Last year, we saw the third entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology with House of Ashes. In our review we scored the latest chapter an 8/10, saying:
House of Ashes adds little to the Dark Pictures formula, and doesn’t seem to progress anthology’s overarching plot. That said, it’s still a great adventure with some jaw dropping visuals and action-packed set pieces. A solid addition to the franchise.
Coming up next is The Devil In Me, which looks to be a gruesome final for the series’ first leg. With actress Jessie Buckley at the helm, players attempt to thwart a sadistic serial killer who turns his victims into macabre puppets. Looking even further ahead, a potential leak reveals the next five Dark Pictures games.
For now, however, we’ve got The Quarry to look forward to.
