THQ Nordic and Kite Games have announced The Valiant, a new RTS with RPG elements for PC. There’s a lovely CGI trailer to get this started so let’s have a look at that.
Thankfully THQ Nordic have avoided making me angry and there’s a gameplay trailer as well. Well, in as much as there’s some gameplay but still quite a lot of cut scenes and story.
“The Valiant is an upcoming action-RTS with RPG elements, designed to bring a fresh experience to players wanting something new in the genre,” say THQ Nordic. “Focused on more tactical combat with smaller forces, players encounter a sweeping, story-driven campaign where each mission’s challenge is unique.”
There’s no base building in the game but you do get to pick the the skills and equipment for your heroes. Each hero has three skill trees and there’s a full single player campaign to be played.
Alongside that there are two multiplayer modes, competitive and cooperative. Up to three players can join up in the Last Man Standing mode in which waves of enemies and bosses attack the players. There’s also a PvP mode which offers 1v1 or 2v2, with players fighting to capture points and build up their forces. As you might expect you can level up and unlock loads of nice customisations for your heroes.

- Play cooperative with friends in the 3-player “Last Man Standing” mode, where you face hordes of enemies and earn experience to level up your knights and unlock new skills and cosmetics
- Play competitively in multiple PVP game modes that support 1v1 and 2v2, with cosmetic meta-progression and special rewards for ranked play
