SD Gundam Battle Alliance is going to be released on August 25th. The date was confirmed with a new trailer dropped by Bandai Namco that goes into some details about players can expect from the game. SD Gundam Battle Alliance takes place in what is called the G:Universe where different stories collide twisting the canon. Think of it a bit like a multiverse drawing in Gundam from all over.
SD Gundam Battle Alliance is an action RPG. The SD stands for Super Deformed because the Gundam suits have had a transformation from their original designs, making them looks smaller and more compact. The official blurb for the game reads, “SD GUNDAM BATTLE ALLIANCE is an action RPG that allows players to battle Super Deformed (SD) versions of Mobile Suits from the Gundam series.The story takes place in G: Universe, a world where Gundam canon twists and turns in ways no one can predict. To correct this world’s distorted history, the player leads a 3-unit squadron consisting of Mobile Suits and pilots from across Gundam history – a true Battle Alliance.”
The game will have both solo and multiplayer co-op components, so you can go through the game with two other players backing you up through missions if you wish. Additionally, players will be able to customise their gundams with different gear to adapt to different challenges. Anyone who pre-orders will get access to the following:
- SD Gundam World Sangoku Soketsuden Pack – Includes Liu Bei Unicorn, Sun Quan Astray, and Cao Cao Wing.
- Mobile Suit Launch Support: Start Dash Pack and early unlock for the Gundam unit – Includes 5,000 Capital Ticket x1, expansion part Char Aznable’s Mask (infighter/all-rounder/shooter), and early unlock for the Gundam unit
- Early unlock for the Knight Gundam unit
- Early unlock for the Musha Gundam unit
SD Gundam Battle Alliance is being developed by Artdink Corporation, which has previously worked on games such as Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, Sword Art Online: Lost Song, and most recently Triangle Strategy. This game is set to be released on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Switch.
