Rising from the ashes, The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition will launch exclusively on PlayStation platforms later this year, developer Q-Games has announced.
The game originally launched on PlayStation 4 back in 2016 but failed to draw in enough active players despite its unique premise. Here’s our original review from launch.
Sony decided to pull the plug on the free-to-play title only six months later. However, Q-Games was able to get the rights to The Tomorrow Children from Sony and has been working to revive the project ever since.
The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition will be launching on PS4 and PS5 later this year, offering numerous enhancements for those playing on Sony’s newest console. It’s also worth noting that this will be a premium release, doing away with the free-to-play design of the original. This has caused the studio to rework major parts of the game so it no longer relies on micro-transactions.
The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition Overview
The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition takes place within an alternate future following a failed experiment to unite the minds of all humanity. The return of civilization now lies in the hands of Projection Clones; new life forms capable of venturing deep into the Void in search of preserved human survivors. Only through their determination and cooperation may humanity be restored.
Players are invited to explore over 40 enigmatic islands to mine resources, unearth treasure and begin rebuilding what was lost, all while collaborating with other Projection Clones online. The upcoming release of The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition also brings with it a series of new features that include multiple new islands to discover, an in-depth tutorial, never before seen items and new ways to play.
In the announcement blog Dylan Cuthbert, Game Director and Founder of Q-Games, said that a lot of focus has been on game’s intro, helping players to get up and running without bogged down by some of its quirkier concepts. Hopefully the revamped PlayStation exclusive will find a new audience when it launches later this year.
