Highly anticipated co-op brawler Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is coming out next week on 16th June 2022… oh, and it’s now been revealed by Dotemu that it’s not a 4 player co-op brawler, but a player co-op brawler. Neat!

The pixel graphic side scroller has been inspired by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time and finds the foursome, Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello, battling across Manhattan and taking in iconic TMNT locations as the kick butt and attempt to stop Shredder. Bebop, Rocksteady, and Krang will also be on hand to cause trouble while the Turtles will have brand new abilities to help them fight the Foot Clan.

With six players able to join the fray, more characters like masked vigilante Casey Jones, April O’Neil and Splinter have joined the roster for you to choose from.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been missing from the world of gaming for quite a long time, the last time we saw them was a guest spot in Injustice 2 back in February 2018. The last official Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game was Mutants In Manhattan, created by Platinum Games for Activision, which used the same cell shaded engine as another Platinum game, Transformers: Devastation. However, Transformers was rather good, Mutants In Manhattan was not.

Shredder’s Revenge looks much, much, much better than that game. Dotemu were the team behind the excellent Streets of Rage 4 as well as Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, while Tribute Games developed the much loved and recently re-released Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game. Combined they’re doing a fantastic job, it seems, of bringing the classic side-scrolling brawler to life once more.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next week. If you’ve got a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, it’ll play via backward compatibility.
