Playground Games has released a fresh update for Forza Horizon 5, adding a community requested feature to the open world arcade racer. Co-op is now available for the Horizon Story events, with convoys of up to six players now able to stick together and race through these narrative moments.
Up until this point, if the host of a convoy group started a story mission, it would dissolve the session and send you in solo. Given how Forza Horizon 5 is an eminently social racing game, this was quite an odd omission. It’s also a bit late in the day to be adding, as most players will now surely have completed the story, but better late than never!
Beyond that, they’ve also added temporal anti-aliasing (TAA) to the PC version of the game, adding a more modern anti-aliasing method to the game in an attempt to eliminated or minimise jagged edges to the graphics. Up until now, it only supported MSAA.
There’s also a whole bunch of new localisation options for more countries and languages, fixes for certain camera views being too dark at dusk and night time, duplicate car filters, and new Hot Wheels themed cars and cosmetics, what with the new Hot Wheels paid DLC that’s on the way in July!
Here’s the Forza Horizon 5 – 21st June 2022 update patch notes:

The Forza franchise is on a bit of a roll of late. Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Horizon 5 were both exemplary open world arcade racers, with the latter being a real showcase for what the Xbox Series X|S console generation can do. But the more exciting is yet to come. Forza Motorsport will be out in spring 2023 and looks simply spectacular, and I’m sure that Playground are already looking to the future and Forza Horizon 6.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, since we’re only just getting the Hot Wheels DLC next month. Looking back on our Forza Horizon 5 review, Dom wrote “Forza Horizon 5 continues the series’ legacy, usurping Forza Horizon 4 as the new pinnacle of open-world racing and as a graphical showcase for the new generation of Xbox console.” We scored the game an impressive 9/10!
