Oddworld: Soulstorm Oddtimized Edition is heading to Switch

Oddworld: Soulstorm Oddtimized Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch, Microids and Oddworld Inhabitants have revealed today. In the announcement, Microids has stated that this version of Oddworld: Soulstorm will make use of the Switch’s features though exactly how has not been detailed by the company. There is both a Limited Edition and the Collector’s Edition coming to the Switch.

Oddworld Soulstorm Limited Edition will include a collectible metal case with 24 cartridge slots along with three art prints. The Collector’s Edition will include:

  • A Unique Collector’s Box
  • Oddworld: Soulstorm’s standard edition for Nintendo Switch
  • A collectible metal case with 24 cartridge slots
  • An exclusive 9-inch (22 cm) silver figurine of Abe, Mudokon hero
  • A premium 160-page artbook by Pix’n Love Publishing
  • An exclusive Mining Company keychain
  • Three art prints
  • Ancient Mudokon Tribal stickers
  • Abe’s hand tattoo

Both versions will come with the soundtrack and a digital artbook. Oddworld Soulstorm was first released on PC, PS4, and PS5 in 2021 before heading to Xbox and now Switch. The game was released as a PS Plus title for PS5, which Oddworld Inhabitant’s Lorne Lanning described as a devastating decision.

In our Oddworld Soulstorm review, Nic wrote, “Oddworld: Soulstorm clearly comes from a very passionate, dedicated group of developers. Although it is very rough in places, there are parts of it that really do stick out as excellent examples of both gameplay and storytelling. With more refinement this could have been a shining example of what ground-up remakes could be, but it just falls a little short of the high standards set elsewhere. It’s still charming and funny, just like the Mudokens you’re trying to save, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating.”
