Microsoft has revealed the latest batch of games coming to Xbox Game Pass, with another good selection of titles big, small, old and new joining the subscription service through the second half of August 2022.

Most notably is the addition of Immortals Fenyx Rising, the mythological open world game from Ubisoft, while there’s also day one releases into Game Pass for Midnight Fight Express, Immortality, Commandos 3 and Tinykin.

The clear headliner here is Immortals Fenyx Rising, which came out at the tail end of 2020 and was a rather good twist on Ubisoft’s stereotypical open world shenanigans – it certainly took a little bit of inspiration from Breath of the Wild, but mixed it with tongue-in-cheek narration for the story.

In our Immortals Fenyx Rising review, Aran said:

“Putting the obvious parallels to one side, Immortals Fenyx Rising is a thoroughly enjoyable game. The main character is very likeable, and the humour between the characters is great, while the Golden Isle looks fantastic and is filled with content without also feeling overwhelming. It takes a while for the combat to grow, and the end portion of the game drags on, but if you want a fun and compact open world game then Immortals Fenyx Rising is well worth playing.”

Beyond that, there’s plenty of new indie games leaping into the catalogue of Xbox Game Pass games. Midnight Fight Express has built up a head of steam, in particular, grabbing our attention from its showing during Summer Game Fest in June.

Jim went hands on with Midnight Fight Express, saying:

“Fierce, frenetic bouts of close quarters combat are this game’s bread and butter, each stage serving up a set menu of high octane brawls. Midnight Fight Express lays out some duelling basics before gradually layering on new moves and mechanics. Within a matter of minutes you’ll go from using Babyface’s first combo to mastering makeshift weapons and performing deadly finishers in a satisfyingly brutal ballet.”

Earlier this month, Microsoft doled out a rather different set of games, with Two Point Campus and Turbo Golf Racing joined by thee back catalogue release of Ghost Recon Wildlands by Ubisoft. Find out the full range from the first half of August’s Xbox Game Pass line up here.
