Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade is an open world mobile game set in Ancient China

Ubisoft has announced a major new game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and it’s one with some major differences to previous games. Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade will be a mobile game, but it’s a fully open world adventure optimised for the platform, and it will also take the series to Ancient China in a more meaningful way than it has done in the past.

There’s no release date for Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade – and that’s sure to be a codename subject to change – but you’ll be able to create your own fully custom character for the first time, and then go and do parkour across the Great Wall of China, get into fights in Chinese cities, and plenty more.

In addition to this particular mobile game, Ubisoft’s partnership with Netflix to develop an Assassin’s Creed TV series will also see them create some kind of game for Netflix’s mobile gaming division.

This new mobile game came amidst a flood of 15th anniversary announcements for the franchise. There’s also a final free expansion and quest line for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and there’s two mainline Assassin’s Creed games in development at both Ubisoft Quebec and Ubisoft Montreal. Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will take players to feudal Japan at long last, while Codename Hexe is more mysterious – read more about those here. Oh, and there’s also Assassin’s Creed Mirage which will be getting back to the series’ action adventure roots.
