SIMULACRA 3 will be released on October 25th, Neon Doctrine and Kaigan Games have confirmed. SIMULACRA 3 continues the horror series staple of the story revolving around a found phone, but with added elements. One of those is real time video calls where players will have to make snap decisions, and those decisions could mean life or death.

The story outline for SIMULACRA 3 says, “You are the intern at the local paper, tasked with assisting the town’s star journalist, Ruby Myers, on her investigation into the disappearances. Your only lead is the phone of the missing Paul Castillo, a software developer, an amateur historian of the town, and one of Ruby’s sources. While Ruby does the legwork, your job is to hack into Paul’s phone for any clues left behind. New apps, exciting features, and fresh terror await those who delve into the darkest corners of the digital realms as you investigate the Beldam of Stonecreek.”

Stonecreek is a quiet town but the issue is that people are disappearing, and to make stranger a symbol is left behind in the last place where the disappeared were. Beldam is the name given to a witch’s ghost which some suspect is behind the disappearances. It will be down to you to figure out if the disappearances are supernatural in nature, or much more sinister.

In our review for SIMULACRA 2, Steve wrote: “Simulacra 2 is a worthy sequel and an immersive take on the role that our digital presence has in defining who we are. The different playable characters help to give a different perspective to the story and the suspects are sufficiently flawed to keep you guessing as to where blame may lie, but the wider cast of characters don’t feel as focussed as the original. While the virus in question here is completely digital, it’s uncannily topical given our enforced switch to virtual interactions.”

SIMULACRA 3 will be available for PC to start with. A mobile version was previously announced.
