Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse Remastered is going to released in 2023, Skunkape has revealed. This remaster follows on from Sam & Max Save the World Remastered which released in 2020, and Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space Remastered which released in 2021. While platforms have not been confirmed it is likely to release on PC, Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles, and Switch like the previous games.
Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playground was originally released in 2010 on PC, PS3 and iPad. It was released in an episodic format and consisted on five episodes in total. They were:
- Episode 1: The Penal Zone
- Episode 2: The Tomb of Sammun-Mak
- Episode 3: They Stole Max’s Brain!
- Episode 4: Beyond the Alley of the Dolls
- Episode 5: The City That Dares Not Sleep
The story outline for Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playground says, “An otherworldly power for controlling matter and space calls to the strongest and strangest who might wield it — intergalactic warlords and eldritch gods, under-dwellers and scholars of the arcane. Gaming’s greatest dog and rabbit sleuths Sam & Max seek the power’s ancient secrets, as manic Max gains shape shifting, teleportation, mind reading and future vision abilities for battling these foes.”

As much as I love stepping back into the chaotic shoes of Sam and Max, I’m left a little disappointed by the fuzziness in handheld mode and the slightly confused script revisions. That said, the game is still one of the funniest point-and-click adventures I’ve had the pleasure of playing.”
