Dead Space graphics modes for PS5 and Xbox Series X confirmed

Dead Space Remake Header

EA has confirmed that the soon-to-be-released Dead Space remake will have multiple performance and graphics modes on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, letting players prioritise fancy visuals with ray tracing or better performance on the current generation consoles.

Dead Space will launch on 27th January for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, a ground-up remake of the 2008 action horror classic by EA Motive. The game will offer thoroughly modernised graphics via the Frostbite engine, as well as see EA Motive put their own stamp on the gameplay with a single cut camera style, new power subsystems decision points, and redesigned areas that expand on the original game.

What are the Dead Space PS5 & Xbox Series X graphics options?

The graphics options are pretty familiar to modern gamers, and are as follows:

  • Quality: 30fps at 4K (UHD 2160p) resolution with ray-tracing.
  • Performance: 60fps with 2K (QHD 1440p) with no ray-tracing.

It’s not stated what to expect from the Xbox Series S, but many game developers have now established a track record of overlooking the lower-specced console at launch and then improving performance and options down the line. Typically Series S players end up with 1080p and 30fps without ray-tracing enabled, though it is true that some games will launch with a 1440p 30fps target, or offer 1080p and 60fps.

Dead Space PC minimum specs

PC gamers can also have a peep at the game’s minimum and recommended specs. EA hasn’t stated the performance targets for these configurations, though you won’t be getting ray tracing with the minimum spec GPUs. The recommended PC specs could, in theory, be a rough match for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, though.
