In case you haven’t heard, the Payday 3 beta is well underway. With the heist simulation sequel launching next month, developer Starbeeze Studios have kicked off their first closed beta test for the game, now available on PC and Xbox.

This initial testing period started on August 2nd and is due to run until August 7th, so you haven’t much time left to participate. Still, if you can’t wait until September 21st to don your clown masks and make some serious cash, here’s how to get in the Payday 3 beta.

Payday 3 Beta – how to get access on PC and Xbox

A place within the Payday 3 beta crew is not guaranteed, sadly. You’ll need to officially request access and, even then, you may not unlock the option to download the beta this time around. As for PlayStation fans, there is no way of joining the beta on PS5 with this test period focusing on PC and Xbox only.

Requesting access to the Payday 3 beta on PC is simple. Head over the to game’s official Steam store page and scroll down until you see the green request button for the playtest. This should only take a quick click though, as we’ve mentioned before, this is no way secures your spot in the current beta. Keep an eye on your Steam notifications and check the email inbox associated to your Steam account to hear whether you’ve been accepted. Starbreeze will be issuing new invites daily, so keep those thieving fingers crossed.

Over on Xbox, you’ll have to jump through a few extra hoops. Fire up the Xbox Inside Hub app on your system and head over the game previews section where you’ll find the option to join the Payday 3 playtest. Much like the PC beta on Steam, you won’t be granted immediate access – instead you’ll need to wait for virtual thumbs up before the download becomes available.

There’s a likelihood that we’ll see more than one beta ahead of launch. If there isn’t you’ll have to wait for the Payday 3 release, scheduled for September 21st for PS5, Xbox Series, X|S, and PC.

Payday 3

Developed by Overkill Software, Payday’s unique concept of executing intricate heists with friends struck a chord with gamers seeking thrilling cooperative gameplay. Players don the distorted masks of skilled criminals, meticulously planning and executing daring robberies in immersive environments. With a wide range of customisable weapons, diverse skill trees, and countless heist variations, Payday 2 offered an abundance of gameplay options that has kept players coming back, heist after heist, for a decade now.

Emphasising teamwork and coordination, Payday encourages players to collaborate and strategise as they navigate stealth sections, repel ambushes, and manage side tasks. Its enduring popularity is clearly present through the sheer amount of DLC that has steadily dropped throughout the past decades, adding new heists, weapons, and even crossover characters including John Wick.
