Hyenas is getting a PC closed beta later this month

A closed beta for hero-based extraction shooter Hyenas will kick off on 31st August, Sega and Creative Assembly have announced, alongside the release of the latest gameplay trailer. You can register to join the PC playtest via Steam.

The new trailer showcases gameplay on the Earth Vintage Plundership as players take part in a zero-G heist to steal back Merch that is on its way to the collections of billionaires that have fled the dying planet below in favour of Mars.

As an extraction shooter, the game combines battling against NPC guards (known as Murfs in the game), and against rival teams of heisters on the ship in PvPvE action.

While the closed beta will kick off on 31st August, running until 11th September, it’s not the first public availability of this beta build. That will actually come at Gamescom, where the game will be playable in Hall 8 of the Koelnmesse all through the show, from 23rd to 28th August.

The closed beta will feature eight of the game’s hero characters, including newly announced characters Mozie and Digits, a rock-and-roll roadie, alongside ballerina Prima, astronaut Commander Wright, super speedy cosplayer Hero-Ki, Sniper El Silbón, gamer Doc Hotfix and drag queen Galaxia.

Announced last summer, Hyenas has been through a few private closed alpha tests up until this point, so a closed beta is a pretty big milestone to reach on its path to a full launch. Hyenas will be coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows and Mac.
