We’re generous sorts at TheSixthAxis, and that means one of our favourite things to do is give things away to our readers! It’s even better if it actually makes sense, and today’s giveaway makes the most sense as we’re offering ten lucky winners a PC code for the revival of the 8-bit classic Shark! Shark! on World Marine Day! That’s a lot of exclamation marks!
Offering both solo-swimming single-player and multiplayer modes for up to four players, Shark! Shark! sees you take control of a plucky fishy friend, and aim to collect as many points as possible while avoiding a host of potential threats including blowfish, orca, lobsters, kraken, jellyfish and, of course, sharks. Multiplayer is both local and online, and there’s also cross-platform play for facing off against your friends no matter where they’re playing.
It’s light and funny and perfect for playing with family and friends, with updated graphics and a soothing soundtrack provided by industry legend Tommy Talarico, whose work runs from 8-bit era titles like Another World and Robocop vs Terminator through to the Wii’s Sonic and the Black Knight.
Shark! Shark! is the second installment of BBG’s reimagined games lineup, including Dynablaster, which launched on September 14, and another reimagined 8-bit classic Astrosmash.
If you’re the impatient sort, Shark! Shark! is available right now for Steam (Windows/Mac), Nintendo Switch, Xbox One/Series X|S, Windows Store, and the Mac App Store.

World Maritime Day focuses on the importance of shipping safety, maritime security and the marine environment – which is important for all the creatures that reside there, including sharks. The day also features a special message from the IMO’s secretary-general, which is backed up by a discussion paper on the selected subject in more detail. World Maritime Day is celebrated in many countries worldwide, including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
