Five months removed from the initial PC release of Virtua Fighter 5 REVO, the revamped fighting game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
Announced during the Virtua Fighter Direct, which also gave a fresh glimpse of the New Virtua Fighter Project, VF5 REVO’s console port is in response to fan feedback.
Seiji Aoki, Legacy Virtua Fighter Projects Producer said, “I know we’ve kept you waiting, but our Steam release, Viruta Fighter 5 REVO is finally coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
“Since Virtua Fighter 5 REVO’s launch, we’ve heard your requests for multiplatform support via the official VF Discord and other channels We on the development team want to give users on all platforms the opportunity to enjoy Virtua Fighter 5 REVO, so we are happy to bring you this announcement.”
He continued to reveal that Virtua Fighter 5 REVO will be going multiplatform with cross-play support, and that to make the online multiplayer as smooth as possible, the rollback netcode from the Steam release will also be propogated to other platforms.
Even more content will be added, so that this is more than a simple port, with details of this to come in a future Virtua Fighter update.
Elsewhere in the VF Direct, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio shared a development update on New Virtua Fighter Project, revealing a new look for Wolf Hawkfield. He’s now been transformed into an ageing wrestler, who’s all set to turn ‘heel’ in his older age.
