Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection announced with its first action-packed trailer

Monster Hunter is a series that’s become a staple of Nintendo’s lineup, and it’s great to see that continuing with the announcement of Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, returning to the turn-based RPG styling of the first two Monster Hunter Stories games.

There’s a rumbling Rathalos egg, this time seemingly with twin baby dragons lurking within, and plenty of anime-styled hunters knocking around, giving us some real storytelling in the Monster hunter universe, extending at least slightly beyond ‘the monsters are attacking our village’ storyline we tend to get elsewhere.

The trailer gives us a taste of some of the freshly-realised monsters, especially giving us a good view of Magnamalo – the signature monster for Monster Hunter Rise – and the spider-like Rakna Kadaki. They both look awesome, and I can’t wait to see how much of the roster makes it across to this new game.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is coming exclusively to the Switch 2 – and possibly PC I suppose – which will hopefully erase the performance issues that hung around the last entry on the original Switch. As a note, it’s absolutely worth replaying the first two games on Switch 2, as it drastically improves the frame rate and how they feel while you’re roaming the open world.

Steve loved Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, awarding it 8/10, and saying, “Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is a great JRPG that blends the spirit of Monster Hunter with turn-based combat and exploration. The central story is good, but it’s the loot loop and party building that really draws you in. It may not represent a huge leap forward from the original game, but this is a fantastic title for fans of either the main Monster Hunter series or JRPGs in general.”

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is set to release in 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, and we’ll be waiting with bated
