The Adventures of Elliot is a new HD-2D adventure, and there’s a demo out today

Square Enix has announced a brand new HD-2D action RPG, with The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series and PC. But there’s a debut demo available today!

Update: This is a cross-platform release, it has now been confirmed.

Set in the world of Philabieldia – which is probably bizarro Philadelphia – with the Kingdom of Huther protected by a spell of safekeeping, you set out on an adventure that spans centuries. Elliot leaves the kingdom to investigate some mysterious ruins, accompanied by the fairy Faie, battling against beast tribes in action RPG style.

The combat features parrying and charge attacks, whether using swords, bows for ranged attacks, chains and sickles to swing and pull enemies around. There’s seven weapon types, but all can be enhanced by Magicite. Faie can also attack and pick up items, and can be controlled separately to Elliot – this also enables two-player co-op.

A demo is available today on the Nintendo eShop, and Square Enix will also be issuing a survey to gather feedback on what you see within.

Square Enix also revealed Octopath Traveller 0, a prequel to the original HD-2D title that they released in 2017.
