There are a lot of Silent Hill things going on at the moment, so you may have forgotten that a sequel to 2006’s Silent Hill film is going to be released this year*. The movie makers have also forgotten something, mainly that there has already been a sequel, 2012’s Silent Hill: Revelations.

This new sequel is doing a “James Cameron / Terminator” thing as the 2006 movie director, Christopher Gans, is returning and pretending the 2012 movie does not exist. Return to Silent Hill is based on Silent Hill 2 and stars Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson. It also features Pearse Egan as Eddie Dombrowski, who featured in an indie film for which I wrote the dance music. Small world innit?

Pyramid Head, or “Red Pyramid” as he is known in the film despite not being red, can be seen at the end of the trailer.

“Return to Silent Hill brings the iconic horror franchise back to the screen. When James receives a mysterious letter from his lost love Mary, he is drawn to Silent Hill—a once-familiar town now consumed by darkness. As he searches for her, James faces monstrous creatures and unravels a terrifying truth that will push him to the edge of his sanity.”

I quit enjoyed both of the previous Silent Hill movies, they certainly stuck more to the themes of the games than all the Resident Evil movies did.

*Just to confuse things the trailer is dated for 2025, but other sources say the film will be out in January 2026.
