Kinetic games and Remedy Entertainment have revealed a new partnership, bringing Alan Wake into Phasmophobia for a limited-time event and first crossover event, starting on 12th May.
‘Phasmophobia by Alan Wake’ will see the Dark Place begin to seep into the world of Phasmophobia, altering familiar locations, making the shadows more ominous and mixing up the investigations.
“Working with Remedy has been an incredible experience, and the way these two worlds overlap has opened up some unsettling possibilities that we’re excited for players to explore,” said Daniel Knight, CEO of Kinetic Games. “It’s a natural crossover, and our art team has been hard at work capturing the atmosphere of Alan Wake 2, bringing the essence of some of the game’s iconic locations into Phasmophobia.”
“There are many fans of Phasmophobia at Remedy, so it was a thrilling opportunity to bring these two horror worlds together in this dream – or rather, nightmare – collaboration,” said Sam Lake, Creative Director at Remedy Entertainment. “It was a joy to write this. Our two twisted worlds amplify each other perfectly.”
The announcement comes as Kinetic is able to announce a new major milestone, with over 5 million copies of Phasmo sold on console, and 28 million in total. Despite all of this, they’re sticking with calling this an ‘early access’ game.
We had a great time exploring Phasmophobia for its console launch, saying, “There’s a bunch of rough edges from adapting the controls to gamepad, and from that initial learning curve, but Phasmophobia is absolutely that kind of game – grab a few friends, go to a spooky house, and run around in the dark calling out to “Susan” or whatever their name was. You’ll have a hell of a time while you do.”
