It was a big Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 ports, with a whole host of new announcements from the last few years.
Two major games from the last couple years, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Lies of P, Devil May Cry 5, Metaphor: ReFantazio and Stellar Blade, are coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.
- Dragon’s Dogma 2 will launch on 9th October 2026
- Stellar Blade is coming sometime in 2026
- Lies of P Complete Edition arrives digitally on 6th August, physically on 2nd October
- Devil May Cry 5 will then drop on 23rd June
- Metaphor: ReFantazio launches on 12th November
We’ll have to wait and see how performance holds up, with DD2 notoriously rather taxing on the original launch. Even so, in our review, Jason said, “Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a triumph of a game that wants you to just take your time and see everything you possibly can. You’ll be constantly pulled from your path by a new cave, a random quest, a chest one of your Pawns has found, random fights, and it’s all part of the experience. I adore this game, and while it has some aspects I think some will find too clunky, it’s a masterpiece.”
Hot on the heels of the newly announced sequel, the original Stellar Blade will be welcome on Nintendo’s handheld as well. Our Stellar Blade review saw Gamoc say “Stellar Blade is a pretty enjoyable game to swing your hairband sword at, so long as you don’t mind the obvious sexualisation. There’s a few rough areas, but nothing to spoil things overall and there’s plenty of interesting story to uncover as you fight your way through giant monsters with circular saws for heads and weird tentacles for legs.”
Metaphor: ReFantazio was also a masterpiece, with Nic saying “Metaphor ReFantazio is sublime. Persona fans will have an absolute blast playing this, and hunting out the subtle (and not-so-subtle) nods to its franchise cousin. A couple of minor annoyances make it feel a little rough around the edges hold it back from an otherwise perfect score.”
And Lies of P (including the Overture DLC in this release) is a great take on the Soulslike genre. Reuben said, “Smooth combat, seamless exploration and a set of well-executed mechanics makes Lies of P an excellent Soulslike. When you add in the gorgeous visuals, desolate world design, stark sound design and engrossing story, it raises the experience above a lot of its contemporaries. All in all, although Lies of P is essentially Bloodborne featuring Timothée Chalamet, it does more than enough to mark itself out as a unique title worth your time – and I’m not lying.”
And finally, DMC5 Devil Hunter Edition will compile all of the excellent action gameplay of this release. Originally released in 2019, before being upgraded for the new generation launch the following year, Nick said, “Hideaki Itsuno, my hat goes off to you and your crew. It’s only March, and yet Devil May Cry 5 is another clear Game of the Year contender. The silly arguments on whether the original DMC or DmC is better can stop now, because DMC5 is here and it’s bloody brilliant. This is a proper return to form for the series, something that fans of both can get behind.”
