Titan Quest II update adds Spirit & Crafting to early access

titan quest 2 interview playing with history

A major update for Titan Quest II has been released, adding the anticipated spirit mastery, summons and crafting into the game. The update is available today for the early access version of the game.

It’s a deep and technical trailer that dives into a bunch of examples of what you can do with these added features.

Spirit mastery, and the ability to summon helpers in battle, shifts the player dynamic to make you more of a support role to the summons that can take the forefront in battle. The examples were the greater summon Athanekros, which could really do the bulk of damage, while Eidolon Guards were the lesser one.

In both instances, the narration details various ways to modify them, such as adding Arcane Blast to add an AoE attack, increase damage at the cost of its own health, while the Eidolons lose health over time, so you can modify them to slow down this loss.

Alongside this is Crafting, allowing you to take gear and items to salvage items to gain materials of different rarities. You can add affixes to items that you like, though there are naturally limits to this, such as only being able to reroll one affix per item, or replace them. Epic items are different, in that you can only level them up once before you’d need to hunt for a better version.

It’s been a year since the early access release of Titan Quest II around the THQ Nordic showcase last August. At the time, Dom said, “Titan Quest II makes a great first impression in Early Access. Its enveloping world, tough but fair combat and deep loot and experience trees, are perfectly weighted to pull you ever deeper into myth and legend.”
