Disney’s D23 event has given us a Kingdom Hearts IV trailer, and we also got a tease from The Simpsons creator Matt Groening.
At the event he was asked if he ever thought the game would return and said, “I think the original game is coming back in some form.” Current showrunner Matt Selman quickly stepped in to add “.. or not.” making it appear that Groening had revealed something that Disney were not ready to make public at this time.
Fans have been clamouring to play the 2003 action-adventure game The Simpsons: Hit & Run again, as despite being the 22nd The Simpson Game, it was pretty darn great.
Using the open world format of Grand Theft Auto it was created in collaboration with writers and cast of the animated show and had the Simpson family investigating an Alien plot. It was released on PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube, with a PC port following shortly after.
It was created by Radical Entertainment, the team behind both Prototype games, Crash Team Racing, and they also worked with Bungie on Destiny. Sadly, they were merged into Activision with just a few members of staff remaining as of 2024.
The original trailer is just a blur of pixels these days, so here’s a remake to give you an idea of the game.
