It’s been a good while since we last heard about Naked Rain’s game Ananta, but thanks to Gamescom we now have a new trailer and a release date!
The game has had almost 18 million people sign up forpre-registration from all around the globe, understandable when it looks so good. It was announced at Gamescom 2023 under the code name Project Mugen, and the first map is the Japanese-themed Nova Inception Urbs,
Players can swim, drive, walk, climb, and even swing about like Spider-Man using a grappling hook. You will be controlling one character when traversing the city, but when you hit a battle boss fight, four will be available, and you can combine their abilities to devastating effect. New characters will be added as you play the story and will not require Gacha mechanics.
Most importantly, you can pick up and cuddle cats.
Previous trailers have shown GTA-style shootouts, mini-games including darts and a gym, dancing, and, er toilet racing. As in, racing on toilets with legs, not speed pooping. It’s a pretty wild mash of ideas, at times, and as long as you can live with free-to-play monetisation as seen in Genshin and ZZZ, this could be right up your street.
As for what’s actually going on in the world? Here’s some blurb from Naked Rain:
Welcome to Nova, the sun-soaked coastal hub that’s perfect for ditching winter!
This city is electric—whether you’re street surfing in Paradox Plaza or pulling marathon gaming sessions at Glimmergold, there’s never a dull moment. And with humans and Chaos living side by side, you never know what crazy twists your adventure might take!
Nova Tourism Board Pro Tip: Run into Chaos gone wild? Report it first, snap selfies later! Have a blast, but stay safe!
Ananta is being developed for PC, PlayStation 5, Android, and iOS and will launch on January 15th, 2027.
