Ontos gets a deeply strange new trailer, but now it’s got Stellan Skarsgård in it

Frictional Games shared a new trailer for Ontos, their sci-fi mystery thriller coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2027.

If you’d rather not see a wall of lab rats wave their tails around while speaking through a shared consciousness, maybe don’t watch the trailer.

Here’s a blurb from the press release:

In ONTOS, players will play as Aditi as she explores the repurposed moon hotel Samsara and encounters strange Experiments and other disturbing scenarios. Each unique set piece will challenge the player’s morality and encourage thoughtful exploration to decide its potential outcome. Within today’s trailer, Aditi discovers one such Experiment, led by Crombie, a scientist drawn to Samsara in search of answers about the essence of one’s unique, individual self. Crombie’s attempts to create an artificial mind have seemingly resulted in his psyche being uploaded onto a server powered by a mass of interconnected rats. As the machine’s voice encourages Aditi to connect it back to its body, the body itself reacts, making unsettling pleas to stop. As the player, you must investigate the environment, look for hidden clues, and decide how to move ahead.

It’s up to you if you follow the instructions of the machine, try to find another approach or just try to sabotage it and forsake your own morality.

The game is now able to tout Stellan Skarsgård as part of its cast as well, which is pretty neat.
