Dust Origins has been announced, an isometric action-horror shooter set aboard Limbo-6, a doomed orbital prison platform in total collapse. Abruptly freed from cryo-prison, players fight to escape a murderer’s row of violent criminals and horrifying monsters before the station tears itself apart. There’s more than one way off, but actions have consequences.
The game universe was created comic and game artist Joe Madureira and developed by Airship Syndicate, based in Austin, Texas. If you want to help, there’s a Kickstarter for the game.
KEY FEATURES
- Escape the station: Space prison Limbo-6 is in total collapse, with its orbit decaying, major systems failing, and chaos is king. No one aboard is your friend. There are no saints, only survivors.
- Every bullet counts: Ammo is scarce and resources are limited. Positioning, ammo conservation, and environmental hazards make every encounter skillful and tactical.
- Actions have consequences: Player choices genuinely shape how the story unfolds, with multiple endings, post-credits epilogues, and unique “dead ends.” Anyone can live, and anyone can die.
- Don’t expect a warm welcome: Other survivors roam the station with motivations of their own. Help them, and they may open new paths, items, and side missions. Or go lone wolf and leave them to their fate.
- Humans aren’t the only threat: Limbo-6 was also a bio-engineering site, and its alien test subjects have escaped containment. Observe their behaviors and exploit their weaknesses. But beware, some creatures are more than they seem.
- The end isn’t the end: Every ending, post-credits epilogue, or dead end discovered unlocks stash items to carry into New Game+ along with added difficulties.
- Scavenge or suffer: Ammo, crafting materials, and secrets are hidden throughout the collapsing orbital nightmare. Limbo-6 does not give. Take what you need to make it out alive.
