Dazed magazine has published a feature on Grand Theft Auto VI before tonight’s big reveal. Here are the bullet points.
- You can play as Jason, Lucia, or both of them. If you choose both, then the character you are not controlling will still be in the game, for example the will ride shotgun when you are driving. “When the job inevitably goes wrong and spirals into a car chase, the fluid system enables players to take the wheel in one moment, then fire on pursuers out of the passenger window the next.”
- Jason is an ex-military drug runner, Lucia is a fighter fresh out of prison.
- The game is “very consciously staged as a Bonnie and Clyde-type narrative”
- The two protagonists are “characters with rich, complex identities”.
- Food affects your weight, and exercising builds visible muscle.
- The longer you stay awake or in stressful situations, “their features are going to pay the price”.
- The game is more “grounded” than before, and your actions will have consequences.
- There are in-game social media platforms.
- The team met with ” ex-criminals, law enforcement, club promoters, gun dealers and anyone notorious or influential” to help create the NPCs.
- The cast includes Brian Heder, a drug runner, the conspiracy-obsessed Cal Hampton, and bank robber Raul Bautista.
- The in-game brands “reflect the aspirations, aesthetics and lifestyles of the people that inhabit our world’s spaces.
- NPCs are more varied than ever before with different body types and clothes.
