Cairn – On the Trail: Deep Water, a free DLC for the climbing adventure, will launch on 29th October, The Game Bakers has announced.
This free DLC will add three new locations to the game. These new areas are smaller than Mt Kami, but has an added twist to keep the challenge for players – you now have limited energy to complete your climbs, and effort and mistakes will tire you out, so you’ll have to consider your approach.
There’s also a new climbing style to master for newly playable character Marco, who’s not as tall or flexible as Aava, but has strong arms and a new climbot model.
Alongside the DLC is a new Free Roam mode, which means you can return to Kami as either Aava or Marco and explore the full mountain to your heart’s content.
It’s the first of three planned free expansions to the game. It’s out now for PS5 and PC with a Switch 2 port coming in early 2027.
We loved the game, with Gamoc saying in our Cairn review, “Cairn is a unique, slow, and surprisingly relaxing game where you occasionally lose your grip and fall to your death. There’s a heartfelt story running through the ascent to the top of the mountain, survival elements as you manage limited resources, and accurate feeling climbing, but soaking in the gorgeous environments, making discoveries and mastering the climbing are a joy. Cairn is a unique game that stands out from all the rest.
