Football Manager 27 is launching on 10th November, Sega and Sports Interactive have confirmed, arriving with the PC version, FM27 Console and FM27 Mobile.

But you can play a bit early, as a Launch Preview version will be available “1-2 weeks before the street date”, with details on this, pre-purchasing and discount incentives to be confirmed over the next month.

The announcement comes alongside the latest gameplay deep dive, which looks at the Match Day Experience and how the atmosphere has been improved.

This is one of the key areas that Sports Interactive has looked to improve with the recent jump to the Unity game engine, allowing for greater graphical fidelity in the 3D match playback. FM26 was the first game on this engine, and FM27 is able to refine it.

FM26, as fans of the series all know, was a troubled entry that struggled with that jump to a new engine and to new navigational ideas. Last week saw SI explore how the navigation has been improved, removing clicks where possible and clarifying the customisable menu structure, and a followup then delved into the deepening world of the football simulation.

Looking back on our review of FM26, Aran said, “Football Manager 26 is the first step of a new era, and as we’re seeing with some of the biggest clubs in the country, any new era comes with the challenge of rebuilding and both setting and meeting expectations. Football Manager 26 can get better with updates, but I doubt that this entry will be the one to make the most of the switch to the new engine, overhauled UI and new features. It might take one or two more years for this rebuild to really meet its potential.”
