PS Blog Post Leaks Battlefield 3 Premium Date And Price

As part of the latest PlayStation Store Update, the EU Blog has issued the first official details of EA’s much-rumoured Battlefield 3 Premium. Details are scarce, but at least we now have a confirmed date and an idea on pricing.

So that’s next Monday (just as E3 kicks off) for two new updates – Close Quarters and the new ‘Premium’ bundle, which looks like it’ll cost £40, at least via the PSN Store.

Premium is rumoured to be a code that allows access to DLC, with Close Quarters the second such pack and two more to follow. There’s meant to be new maps, new weapons and new game modes, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Sony have since removed the listing from the post.

  1. I was just about to post this here, after posting it on Reddit and a BF3 fansite! Lolz all round! :P

    • On a (slightly) related note – are you the same Chuggy doing Project PTFO? Just found the first vid via D4rkSymmetry. Great stuff.

  2. If the premium version included the game then it would be worth it :D

  3. why anyone would want to buy the DLC after playing the game is beyond me, let alone paying for Premium for £40.

  4. Premium version includes the next 4 DLC packs, plus Karkand if you don’t have it yet… so in total, it works out a little cheaper I think, if you were planning on getting all the DLC. If the internet is correct :-P

  5. Didnt Dice/EA say that the mappacks were free of charge like they did with Bad Company 1 & 2. Correct me if I am wrong but those words made me go for BF all the way.

Will be the Premium for me I guess, need new maps fast. But it will be one game that’ll cost me lots, €240 a year for the server, and then another €50 for Premium

    • DICE originally said they would never charge for DLC. EA obviously had other ideas and changed that pretty quickly.

The Premium deal is actually pretty good, it’s the same as Elite and only the ‘hardcore’ fans that know they’ll be buying all the DLC will benefit.

      • Thanks for clearing that up for me, at least I wasn’t imagining things.

Dont get me wrong, I wasn’t complaining about the prices, merely stating that its gonna cost a lot (for me as I want my own server and all DLC, even bought the dogtags xD)

But as this is Battlefield I will gladly splash the cash to make my gaming experience any better/bigger

  6. if you are sure your doing to get all the DLC then i guess its a good deal, since it works out slightly cheaper + you get a few extras.

    • I want to buy all the maps, but stuff like dogtags don’t interest me. wish they’d release an itinery, don’t really fancy gambling with £40. Hopefully PS+ will get a discount.
