Rockstar have always acknowledged – and apologised for – the GTA Online technical issues, but know they’re showing it through a virtual gesture, offering players a stimulus package including 500,000 in GTA cash directly to all players’ bank accounts.
This might skew the game somewhat, and undermine the microtransactions, but it’s a decent way to apologise for the issues. They’re offering this as early as next week in two 250,000 deposits.
Before depositing this money, they’re going to make sure all progress issues are cleaned up, so that you don’t lose it. This will come in the form of a 1.04 title update, which will fix any other remaining issues too. You’ll need to have downloaded this title update and have attempted to play the game in order to receive the bonus.
If you want to get your hands on the cash and you haven’t played GTA Online yet then don’t worry, as you’ll have until the end of the month to play and receive this money.

It’ll skew the game massively. I’ve sunk 9hrs or so into the character I have atm and only have $80k. Half a mil is WAY too much. $50k would’ve been more appropriate.
Youles
I agree. Although this does mean I should be able to buy a sweet ride straight off the bat!
Youles
…or perhaps a percentage boost (say 20%) of their cash made, so people who have dedicated more time/earned more money get a better reward.
djhsecondnature
That would be a better solution I feel. 10% of total cash earned or something.

It’s not like WoW or something that has a real economy. And as players can purchase currency with microtransactions anyway it’s fine.
That much currency is “worth”£6.99…would feel quite stingy if they only gave everyone $50k which is about 99p of in game currency.
djhsecondnature
All it’s doing is skewing the market and decreasing the value of the jobs. $500k will buy you an amazing apartment and a sports car in the game. Defeats the worth of earning them.
Ed the Penguin
..And so do microtransactions.
hazelam
i expect a lot of people will immediately invest most of that money in property.
i know that’s what i’ll do.
i’ve been trying to save up enough for a house, and i’m on nearly 60k right now.
the cheapest is about 80 grand, but i’d like something decent.
then i’ll be able to get Chastity’s number
uh, i mean, store a couple of cars in the garage. >_>
and if people getting that kind of cash without earning it imbalances the game, then why would they let people buy cash at all?
you can buy one and a quarter million in one transaction.
what’s to stop somebody with enough money having a billionaire level one character.
hol
Don’t care just gimme the cash :) with my lack of skills on this, it’ll really help
CarBoyCam
I easily blow through $50k let alone $500k, so I’m looking forward to this… Lots of car parts for me! :D
Starman
Cant believe people are complaining at getting free stuff! Don’t see that it will imbalance the game as everyone will get the same amount.
monkeyspoon
All those expecting to buy good weapons and cars straight away will be disappointed. You will find most of it locked due to your experience being too low.
Scythegpd
Leave your cash in the bank and on release day go into a mugging rampage. Anyone you see anywhere near an ATM top them and take their wallets.
You know it’s going to happen, essentially saying “Hey look, EVERYONE is going to have a ton of cash today.
Then wait for it to die down before you draw yours
Flightx
Doesnt everyone use their phone to move cash about or is that just me?
Scythegpd
Dunno, not played GTA since San Andreas. Game just doesn’t appeal to me.
Just giving ideas to those who do play it based on what I’ve heard.
hazelam
that’s how i do it, at least since i discovered i could deposit my cash into my account over the phone.
how does that even work anyway?
you can send cash over the phone in the GTA universe?
did somebody in the GTA universe invent teleportation?
why is everybody still driving cars and flying planes and sailing ships if teleportation is possible in that world?
might make the game kinda boring without them though. ^_^
cam the man
Better try online before end of month.
Thechunkymunky
That’s my apartment money on the way then! I don’t think it’ll skew it in any way either. I consider it compensation for having to start from rank 1 2-3 times =D
gazzagb
Never thought I’d see the day people were commenting about getting too much free stuff haha!
I’m still waiting for it to come down in price a bit, hopefully it will by the end of the month.
Tarbun84
Not that impressed with Online. Tried it yesterday and have already gone back to Single Player collectibles and trying silly things
