Nine Minutes Of Dark Souls II Gameplay Shows A Few Ways To Die

The Dark Souls II release date is just over a month away and when it releases a lot of player’s characters will die over and over again. That’s what happens to the person playing during this gameplay demo, though it is split between some unlucky situations and mistakes where you wonder what the player is doing.

The demonstration shows two different areas with different enemy types showing their battle techniques, while the player has favoured a melee style of combat. First off you have what appear to be a couple of hell hounds who are quick but easily killed, and a massive brute who favours a large spear that deals large damage but wielding it means slower attacks. Then in the next area there seem to be possessed humans, an archer in the distance, and a very fast and powerful knight who proves difficult for the player to handle. At the end we meet our first NPC that isn’t trying to kill the player whose name is Pate, and quite kindly warns a player of danger ahead.

Dark Souls II launches on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC March 11th in North America and March 14th in Europe.

  1. Looking forward to this. I’m a big fan of the Souls games so far.

  2. I LOVED Demon’s Souls on PS3.
Barely touched Dark Souls though, I killed the 2 jobbies on top of the cathedral but didn’t get much further than that. I did pick it up again in the Steam sale though, so maybe I should revisit it :)

  3. no, no, no, for the sake of my sanity, and more importantly, the safety of my joypad, i daren’t play this game.

i couldn’t get anywhere on Demon’s Souls, i got across the bridge a couple of times, but then i couldn’t make it up the stairs in the building.

if i couldn’t make it more than about fifty feet in that, i doubt i’ll get very far in Dark Souls 2.
