Warframe’s 12th Update For PS4 Brings In The Zephyr

Digital Extremes has released details on Update 12 for Warframe on PS4, and it includes some major additions to the game including a new mode, heads up display (HUD), Warframe, and weapons. The update is available now so next time you jump on Warframe all of the following will be available to you.

The first major addition is the Zephyr warframe with details of its functions detailed in the video above. Zephyr uses the power of flight and the air in general to navigate the maps and kill opponents. There are the abilities like using whirlwinds to damage opponents with the addition of adding elemental damage, with the trailer above showing fire tornadoes to use against enemies. The Zephyr herself is the lightest of all the warframes available to players.

Interceptor is the new game mode that has been launched and it is a capture style type. In Interceptor there are four map points that can be captured and held by two sides, with points being generated for the duration of the base capture. While players have to reach the main point to capture an area the Grineer can take them over with consoles located around the maps. There is a max point limit and when that is reached players must kill all remaining Grineer to complete the match. There’s then the option to claim a reward or reset the game and compete for a larger prize.

There new HUD is apparently less intrusive than the previous version, has more information available for players to use and 3D transmissions, adding depth to the those messages.

  1. 12th update? Was it hugely broken it was first released? Like a ps4 exclusive game to challenge the amount of patches battlefield 4 has had so far

    • It’s not the the 12th update for PS4, it’s the second. It’s called update 12, because it’s version 12.0 and they follow the PC versions, which has gone through a lot of updates since it’s release as open beta back in march 2013.

      PS4 v1.0: v11.0
      PS4 v1.01: v11:5
      PS4 v1.02: v12.0

The first many updates for PC, was to fix bugs, hence it’s open beta nature, but lately is’s have been more about adding content and tweaking small stuff.

  2. I quite enjoyed this game but found the complete lack of explanation to how the cards work was too much hassle to work out.

    • They’ve patched in a “quick fit” for beginners. It gets it right most times.

  3. I still haven’t even tried this yet. I downloaded this and the other freebies on day one but haven’t opened them yet, every time I go to do so I see Killzone or AC instead.

I really must give this a go.

  4. Warframe is utterly excellent, I’ve spent a lot of time on it and will continue to do so. The first free to play game I’ve really got into, so much so I’ve happily spent real world money on it.
The great thing is the developers are continually working on it and releasing new content, as can be seen in this patch.
It’s a shame it takes so long to figure out, that can be quite off putting for some people, myself included at first, but once you get over that initial hurdle it all becomes good.
It’s odd because all they need to do is put a user manual in that little section under the game icon on the (no longer called) xmb.

    • There is also a new entry in the codex for training. But I agree, it is an excellent game. Put over 300 hours in it already.

    • That’s awesome, Tony. Lovely when a game like this (with a financially different mechanism to the usual RRPs we’re used to) can surprise and win us over.

  5. I’ve tried this a couple of times and quite enjoyed it. Always thought that not understanding the card/upgrade system was going to hold me back. Maybe its time to give it another try if some help for beginners had been added to the game.

  6. I will have to give this another go when, I`m back from hols at the end of march
