As this edition of the Chronicle goes live, the lights will be going out on the British Grand Prix. Hundreds of thousands of F1 fans have descended on Silverstone for what is one of the most enduring highlights of the racing calendar.
All that we can hope is that, whatever your allegiances, we also have an entertaining race, when so many have been relatively dull in recent times. I’m sure a lot of you will be cheering Lewis Hamilton along, though.
In news that will likely surprise nobody, Naughty Dog aren’t just working on Uncharted 4, but Nolan North let slip that they’re also gearing up for The Last of Us 2 – albeit with Troy Baker maintaining that he knows nothing about this.
Tony Cawley said, “Great stuff, though I don’t know how they’re going to continue that story with that particular set of characters.” As well as asking for certain improvements, MrYd replied, “Does it have to be the same characters? I’m sure whatever characters they used, they could come up with a compelling, well acted story in a gorgeous looking game.”
Ron_mcphatty lent this rumour his support, saying, “Brilliant news, I don’t feel anxious about this being just a money spinner at all, I reckon Naughty Dog will have a great story to tell, can’t wait!”
And JR. added, “I hope it’s not the same characters to be honest but I have absolute faith that Naughty Dog will deliver no matter where they take it.”
Elsewhere in the Naught Dog-verse, it was confirmed that Uncharted 4 will be running at a locked 30fps – in single player at least – rather than the hopeful target of 60fps.
Ron_mcphatty backed the decision, saying, “Shame for those who want 60fps but for me this is perfect. I much preferred The Last of Us in 30fps mode, it gave the game a more cinematic feel. I’d say save the big frame rates for driving games and shooters, I’ll take a big budget adventure at a stunning looking 24 or 30 frames any day.”
Dave87fez, on the other hand, found this a tad disappointing. “I’m a little surprised,” he said. “I would’ve thought if anyone could, Naughty Dog could. For me, they are the ones that have set the benchmark for almost every generation of PlayStation so far.”
But double-o-dave seems to have been expecting this news, as he said, “When you look at the detail and destructible environment etc., I’m not surprised it’s 30fps. The Order ran at 30fps and seemed really smooth to me. The only thing which is a tad annoying, is the movement in the cutscenes of the TLOU in 60fps looked incredibly realistic. Really enjoyed watching the cutscenes.”
Finally, the end of June marked the fifth anniversary of the PlayStation Plus subscription service. To celebrate, Sony are creating personalised achievement cards for all those who have been subscribed since the very beginning.
Freezebug said, “I got the email confirming qualification also, nice touch I thought. I think it’s just a thank you for persevering through Plus’ dark days when an avatar was the best of the month.”
In his third appearancce this week, Ron_mcphatty added, “Ah that’s a nice treat! Hopefully the rest of us will benefit with some amazing sale or huge free games in July, but if not I’ll just go outside and get pissed in the sun.”
Others weren’t quite so sporting, such as homerjnick:
What I achieved?
Like stolen credit card info after Sony getting hacked?
Unable to play due to leap year bug?
Unable to play over Xmas and NY due to DDOS’ers?
Simulate 56k modem speed downloads?Look forward to it! :)
The PlayStation Network still has its problems, of course, but it’s a nice point to think of all the fantastic value it has given players, even if it’s not always been perfect.
Youles kicks things off this week with platinum trophies for both Ether One and Super Exploding Zoo, making good use of PlayStation Plus this week, and on a tangential theme, Carrot381 reached level 50 in Driveclub, though presumably the full version of the game. He’s also been “plodding” through a second play of The Witcher 3, in order to get the Gwent trophy, which he messed up on his first go.
CR8ZYH0RSE also finished The Witcher 3 this week, while TSBonyman completed Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and cam_manutd fully completed LittleBigPlanet, before turning his gaze to the sequel.
R1MJAW staked a claim to the Pure Pool PS4 platinum trophy record, while hornet1990 figured out what he was doing wrong and grabbed the Wolfenstein: The New Order platinum – as well as upgrading his PS4 to a new 1TB drive. Finally, after quitting Destiny for good, Forrest_01 found himself dragged back in, working with Commisar_Dave, theberzerka and toutski to get the Flawless Raider trophy in Destiny. Dave apparently managed to get himself the platinum trophy in the process!
A inferior race is back this week with the latest update to the 2015 trophy leaderboard. Head over to page 2 to see what it’s all about and how you can be counted.
Aside from that, I leave you on this page with the usual submission form.

Carrot381
It is the PsPlus version of Driveclub that I got to Lvl 50 in but my driving level had carried over from the full version, which I got a refund for when it wasn’t working.
Youles
Cheers for the mention Tef, despite not often commenting I do always feed the Chronicle :)
Youles
PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE CHRONICLE.
(Clearly, I meant read, ffs stupid phone).
freezebug2
Lol, I often have to second reply to texts sent due to not looking at the words the phones autocomplete dictionary chooses to print and then explain the gobbledy-gook bullshit that I’ve sent…..seriously it’s not drink or drugs! :P
Turning Autocomplete off is probably the best option!
Youles
Indeed. It’s when it changes a word that is already a word, that it’s most annoying! ;)
Stefan L
You do kind of feed it with your achievements, when you think about it…
freezebug2
I know what you mean dude, it is seemingly autocompleting the word being typed until it gets to the last letter where it seems to decipher and print a word appertaining to dwarf sex or similar…..wtf lol
freezebug2
Stunning Silverstone win today with an absolute corker of a race for the fans ;)
cam_manutd
Congrats to R1MJAW on that Pure Pool plat. That is easily one of the hardest plats out there.
R1MJAW
Cheers cam. The hardest part of the career are the games you need to play with no aiming markers but the rest is just a massive grind. It took roughly 120 hours of xp grinding to get to level 126 for the grand master ranking.
