Sony has only just released the 1TB Ultimate Player edition PS4 in Europe, with plans to release the same spec in North America still being worked on. At the moment those in North America can only buy new PS4s with the standard 500GB storage, but it appears GameStop has decided to take matters into its control. The United States part of the company has begun to sell refurbished 2TB PS4 consoles for $479.99, which according to current exchange rates is around £308.
Sony may not be too happy with this move but since these are technically second hand consoles there isn’t much the company may be able to do. If this continues without being stopped more retailers may jump on the idea too and start offering different unofficial models with various storage sizes. None of the international GameStop branches are offering this model, but they may soon if Sony doesn’t try to stop the retailer.
