The long awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake is going to make you wait even longer as Square Enix have dropped external developer CyberConnect2 and shifted production in-house. It seems that Square Enix wanted the game to be, well, more Square-Enix-y.
“I’ve taken over the development side of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake,” explained Square Enix developer Naoki Hamaguchi. “Up until now, development has progressed by receiving external collaboration, but from here on out, with production and quality in mind, we’re shifting to our in-house organisation. This company decision was made wanting to control quality as well as keeping the schedule stable.”
The move will no doubt delay the game and I wouldn’t put money on it showing up this year. Or next year. Possibly a few quid on 2020 might be safe. Ish.

“Pray that we don’t alter the deal.”
Shame about Cyberconnect2 being dropped as i think, they were behind Asura’s Wrath and are capable of doing superb work but i can understand why Square wants to handle the remake directly. If ends up being the worst thing to happen, it could destroy the company. I mean, Final Fantasy has been up and down for at least, the last decade and they managed to win back a lot with 15. 7 the remake could determine if Square is back to making excellent FF games or not.
Though, if it is filled with fucking microtransactions and day one DLC with preorder BS, i will be miffed.
I do hope that they go out of their way to make Aeris’s death(It’s a 2 decade old game) even sadder and have the entire cast present instead of the limited 3 party one and i think, they will resolve the whole “Why not use a phoneix down?” issue in the remake. That said, it’s gameplay and cutscene segration.
Oh god, FF7 could be even crueler with the scene.
The crossdressing section better be in it and I really hope that all the characters are back to their original selves instead of the flanderised versions.

Unfortunately, they’ve already claimed that whole section is going to be included.
If it was a new game, I doubt they’d include something so dodgy. Or such a long and tedious bit of the game. Remember how much some people were complaining about chapter 13 of FFXV? It’s a lot more tedious than that.
So it looks like they’re going for the easy option of “leave it in and give people 1 less thing to moan about because it’s different” (even though they’ll inevitably find 1000 other things) rather than “take out the very dubious content, improving the game and providing endless hours of entertainment pissing off the gamergate muppets (other internet hate groups are available)”

:D I disagree that it is unfortunate. It is very fortunate imo as it adds a degree of silliness to what is a serious situation and it further shows off Aeris in terms of personality. It’s silly, unexpected and part of the charm. I don’t see how it’s dodgy or tedious though.

People have written lots of words about that whole section of the game, and I kind of mostly agree. I won’t repeat all the arguments. It probably wouldn’t be included if it was a brand new game though.
But it’s certainly tedious. Goes on for ages, with lots of running about and stupid crap to do. And no fighting.
