Square Enix To Make Chrono Trigger For PC Less Crap

The recent release of  Chrono Trigger on PC wasn’t met with much enthusiasm, to put it mildly. Good news then, there’s a patch out and it’s going to make the game more like, well, the original game. Here’s what the patch does:

  1. Original Graphics: A new option will allow players to choose between the current high-resolution character sprites and background graphics, or a new ‘Original’ mode which is more in-line with the original style of CHRONO TRIGGER.
  2. Updated Font and Dialogue Boxes: Fonts and dialogue window graphics are updated to give the game a more classic look and feel.
  3. New Start-Up: The order of the animated opening sequences when starting a new game are reworked to be more in line with previous versions of the game.
  4. Additional enhancements and fixes to the text and graphics within the game to enhance the PC play experience.

“Further changes will be made to CHRONO TRIGGER in later updates,” say Square Enix, “Which will include additional UI changes to optimise gameplay for PC users playing with either a gamepad or keyboard and mouse, improved resolution in animated cut-scenes and more.”

By the way, if you haven’t heard if the Chrono Trigger vs Jay-Z album is quite something.

  1. They need to do this with every mobile port they’ve crapped out. Very unappealing to look at much of text boxes.
