As with so many games at the moment, the day of launch for The Division 2 is just the beginning. We naturally hope it isn’t as troubled as Anthem is, or struggles after the first few weeks as Destiny 2 did, but either way Massive and Ubisoft have got a plan for how the first year of content will unfold.
Shortly after launch, the Tidal Basin stronghold will be opened up for players to assault, with Operation Dark Hours, the first eight-player raid coming not long after that. These will then be followed through the year by three episodes – Episode 1 is called D.C. Outskirts: Expeditions, and Episode 2 Pentagon: The Last Castle – bringing new areas, new missions, new PvE and PvP modes and three new character specialisations. The third chapter will wrap up The Division 2’s first main storyline, but also lay the foundations for more updates.
All of the main content will be free for players, but as with Rainbow Six Siege, a Year 1 Pass will be available that delivers new story episodes a week early and unlock the three new specialisations instantly as they release. There will also be 8 extra assignments, more Base of Operations projects, bounties, and customisations, but the bulk of the coming content will be free.

The Division 2 is out on 15th March for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
