Sony have been running a beta test of a new way to share clips and screens of games in Canada and Japan and it looks like the process was being rolled out in other territories. The new feature allows you to share video clips and screenshots via the PlayStation App on your phone, but you will need to allow access first.

First, make sure PlayStation is running the latest firmware and that you are also running on the latest version of the PS App. After that, head over to your media library on your PlayStation 5 and if the feature has been enabled in your region you should see a new pop up on the screen, as shown below in the picture from @GamingIntPhoto1

That’s it, you should now find the video in the PS App and share it. According to Reddit you can even save the images and clips to your phone and share them on other apps such as Instagram. Anything you capture will remain on the app for fourteen days.

The feature had been rolled out in the United States, Germany and other locations but this morning some users are reporting that the feature had now been rolled back and they can no longer use it. It’s possible that someone at Sony pressed a button slightly early but given the feature was in beta for a long time and did seem to work perfectly well for those who managed to access it, it should not be long before Sony launch the feature officially.

It’s been a while since we had a PS5 Firmware update but the next one may bring an important new feature. The Xbox Series X|S has supported VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) since day one, but it has been locked out of the PS5. Sony have said the console will support it, but a Firmware update is required. According to the HDTVTest YouTube Channel, Sony are about to launch some new televisions which support VRR, and the PS5 will be updated to support the feature when they launch.
