Ultimechs was revealed back in November as a VR sports title in which players would control mechs to compete in a sport arena. Not much detail was given then but now a new gameplay trailer for Ultimechs has been released, showing that it will be a 1v1 or 2v2 experience with players aiming to score goals. Watching the trailer you will definitely get Rocket League vibes. The difference is you will be piloting mechs in VR.
“Imagine guiding a missile and changing direction on-the-fly as you try to strike a target in mid-air at just the right angle,” said Tommy Palm, founder and CEO, Resolution Games. “That’s the Ultimechs experience. It’s about guiding rocket-powered fists to find that Superball sweet spot, knocking it out of your opponents reach and into the goal. With Ultimechs, we wanted to make something that was fast, fun, and always better with friends. Ultimechs is all about those moments that can only happen on a team, like setting up shots for your partner to rack up the points, or guarding the net while your teammate calculates their best offensive move. We’re looking forward to seeing some fierce competitions out there!”
The description for Ultimechs reads: “As the thrill of professional athletics meets the precision of purpose-built machines, Ultimechs welcomes players into the sport of the future to compete for victory. If you don’t have the speed, precision and rocketry that it takes to defeat your opponents, you’re done for.”
Ultimechs is set to be released this year for all major VR platforms. Whether that includes PSVR2 remains to be seen. If you are interested in the game you can wishlist Ultimechs on Steam now.
