Humankind console release delayed “until further notice”

Humankind Review Header

Sega’s Humankid was set to launch on consoles next month along with the We Rule Together expansion. That is no longer the case and the game has been pulled from the release schedule and no longer has a launch date for consoles.

Here’s the press release from Sega:

SEGA Europe Ltd., Amplitude Studios and Aspyr have today announced that due to some unique challenges, HUMANKIND™’s release on Playstation 4/5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S is delayed until further notice. Any consumers who have pre-purchased on digital storefronts will receive refunds where applicable in line with platform policy.

We apologise for the inconvenience but rest assured that SEGA Europe, Amplitude Studios and Aspyr are working hard to bring the best possible HUMANKIND experience to console players. We can’t give a timeframe on a new release date right now, but as soon as we are in a position to do so, we will let everyone know and we thank the community for their continued support and understanding.

We reviewed the PC version when it launched and scored the game an impressive 9/10. “Humankind is as deep as you could possibly want from a 4X strategy game, but the constant addition of new things to think about never feels overwhelming because everything’s explained so well, and often with a good bit of humour too,” said Jason. “It’s an excellent game, and if you’ve never delved into the 4X genre before, this might be your best chance to do so.”

The PC launch of the We Rule Together expansion is still set to launch on November 9th.

The key features of Humankind Together We Rule include:

  • Congress of Humankind – Get involved in an inter-empire forum with the Congress of
Humankind. The congress will allow players to vote and decide on global doctrines and
    arbitrate international conflicts together.
  • Embassy – Use this new Quarter to sign agreements that are beneficial for both empires, like
joint training or research agreements. Or use your Leverage currency to force an empire to
take specific actions to your benefit, like lowering war support or enforcing demands.
  • Agents – Use this new unit family to gather Leverage. They will also allow you to infiltrate,
    sabotage and disinform other empires.
  • Diplomatic Affinity + 6 New Cultures – The new Diplomatic Affinity allows its cultures to have
a more active role in the world’s diplomacy.

    • Their Active Ability allows them to demilitarize a territory for 10 turns, while their
Passive Ability allows all their units, beyond just agents, to collect Leverage.
    • The 6 new cultures are the Sumerians, the Han Chinese, the Bulgarians, the Swiss,
      the Scots, and the Singaporeans.
  • 6 new wonders, new narrative events, new music – Monument Valley, Pamukkale, Chocolate Hills, Eldgjá, Palace of Versailles, and the Congress of Humankind Headquarters.
