Rumours suggest Far Cry 7 is in development, also that water is wet

In news that will surprise literally no one, sources have revealed that Far Cry 7 is in development at Ubisoft. In fact it is suggested that there are two games in production, Project Blackbird which is Far Cry 7, and also Project Maverick, a new stand alone multiplayer game which may be linked to Far Cry 7.

Ubisoft are very fond of massive multiplayer live service games that they can run for many years with content update so it makes sense they would try and make a Far Cry multiplayer title.  Sources have also revealed that the game will use the Frostbite engine rather than the aging Dunia engine. Again, this makes sense, one engine for all of Ubisoft’s games means less money spent on maintenance and upkeep.

Far Cry 7 is said to be set in the “Alaskan wilderness” and is an extraction-based shooter” with mechanics such as permadeath, a backpack system, contracts, and more.”

The last game in the series was the cunningly named Far Cry 6 which scored an above average 7/10 in our review.

“Far Cry 6 feels like a sequel that was made because there needed to be a sequel, that’s making changes because it needs to show progress,” noted Gareth. “The previous three numbered games in the series felt like they had their own identity and tried to offer more and more options to the player, but Far Cry 6 is a lateral move towards something that isn’t quite the Far Cry I originally loved.”
