Election Special: Week 2

After last weeks photo opportunities of MPs kissing baby developers on the head, what exciting games related campaigning have they been up to this week? Sadly nothing much, no pictures of Alistair Darling visiting random developers this week. What we were expecting was the Conservative ‘mini manifesto’ that would detail their plans for tax breaks for games developers but, like many promises from political parties, it has not arrived. Why not?

A spokesperson for the Conservatives said they didn’t know when the paper would appear – and added that no one would until a day before publication as “things get moved around”.

Labour have already pledged Tax breaks for UK game developers and the Lib Dems also back the scheme. If they Conservatives do get around to publishing their mini manifesto it’s going to have.. tax breaks for game developers. Can you spot a pattern emerging?

The Lib Dems have one slight difference in their manifestor in that they announced £900m for the UK film and game industry. More interestingly they have promised to look at the skills shortage in the UK and would take steps to encourage programming and game development at schools and collages.

Next week: TSA hosts an exclusive MAG death match when the Conservatives (S.V.E.R), Labour (Raven) and the Lib Dems (Valor) go head to head in an all out fragfest to decide the next government. Possibly.
