Glowmade has announced Rogue Fortune, a single-player, top-town roguelite with the hook of geometric puzzles being used for progression. The game is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and Switch, and PC in 2027.
Revealed during Gamescom last week – we missed it at the time through the mad rush of the show – Rogue Fortune’s top-down roguelite battling is built into 30-minute runs, with the player progression then being tied to a puzzle-like assemblage of relics. Popping their shapes into the character board will let you twist your power-ups to interact with one another and transform attacks and abilities.
It’s all in aid of gathering a fortune in gold and coins, spending it to improve your odds of getting out alive, or trying to hoard as much of it as you can.
“Rogue Fortune grew out of us considering how we could take the moment-to-moment thrill of a roguelite and blend it with this deep, strategic puzzle mechanic,” said Jonny Hopper, Glowmade co-founder. “The result is incredibly compelling. Players need to be inventive and think laterally in order to truly master the second-to-second combat and beat the Temple.”
This is the first project at Glowmade since King of Meat was shut down by Amazon earlier this year. The studio being founded by former Media Molecule devs meant that they naturally tried to lean into player created content once more, blending this with a family friendly take on dungeon crawling and 3D platforming. Sadly it didn’t grab a big enough audience in its first few months of release, and publisher Amazon pulled the plug in February, shutting down servers in April and refunding the game to buyers. This led to layoffs at Glowmade, though the studio has survived, and we now see how it’s pivoting to sustain itself going forward.
